It’s Not *Quite* Our First Rodeo

Peaceful Fruits Flies to Austin, Texas

If you’ve been following us lately, you know that Peaceful Fruits has been up to a lot: we rolled out our new flavors, partnered up with Traverse Journeys for an awesome trip to the Amazon, headed to Columbus for the Festival for Good, and also flew to Texas for food tech event Foodbytes!

Why fly to Austin for Foodbytes! when you can stay in beautiful Akron, Ohio?

Foodbytes! is not your average event - it’s about the way the food industry can change the world and inviting startups with new ways of thinking and a focus on a larger mission to present, pollinate, and make important connections. From the guy who buys stuff for Whole Foods Market, to the CEO of AgFunder, and the founder of EPIC Provisions, there was a lot of knowledge at this event!

With a goal of helping to feed our world’s rapidly growing population, Foodbytes! understands that the food industry as it stands right now needs a big shift and there’s a lot of food start-ups who are working to boost the availability of happy, sustainable, delicious, tasty, and healthy food that’s out there!

With this in mind, Foodbytes! chose from among hundreds of applicants the startups they thought could do the most with this incredible opportunity.

At the intersection of food, social enterprise, and tech/innovation - sounds like somewhere Peaceful Fruits wants to be!

So what was it like?

For us, this event was about presenting the concept behind Peaceful Fruits - making snack time part of making the word a better place - to some of the smartest and most innovative minds in the industry. We wanted to know what they thought about that concept and the authentic, whole-fruit-based, healthy fruit snack that we created from that starting point.  And then, we wanted to get their advice for how to take that to the world!

We started our jam-packed session at the headquarters of Whole Foods. Yes, they fed us extremely well. In between sessions, I was able to hop out and visit our #1 Peaceful Fruits seller, My Natural Gourmet, give them some swag, and say a quick hi.

Pitching And Tasting some Great Food!

Dinner was full of cricket-flour meatballs, date syrup bbq, quinoa and beet salad, and our fruit snacks with a variety of cheese, which I must say was extremely tasty.

Evan gave the Peaceful Fruits pitch with gusto and though we were met with an enthusiastic response, animal alternatives such as kelp jerky and cricket flour took the big win.

Heading Home With Some Tricks in our Back-pocket

Attending Foodbytes! was truly the experience of our fruit snack lifetime. We were met with tremendous big league response and left invigorated and ready to dive back into our work with the mentors’ powerful advice and the Foodbytes! attendee’s warm welcome fresh in our heads.

Keep following our story to see how we ramp up 2.0 and be sure to leave us a comment if you have any superfruit ideas!

Have a great day out there,
