RECAP: a wild, Peaceful Summer!
After a Peaceful Summer, the Next Chapter at Peaceful Fruits
As the weather crisps up and the days shorten, the summer of 2016 is becoming a memory. But let’s just relish this last bit of sun before embracing pumpkin-spice everything – it’s Northeast Ohio and who knows when we’ll see the sun again!
In May, as the culmination of the 6 month SEAChange business accelerator, Peaceful Fruits was named one of the top social enterprise startups in Ohio and received a grant that allowed us to start investing in our business and our mission. Check out Evan’s presentation at the final “Pitch Night” if you missed it!
In June, Teen Vogue Magazine picked us as a favorite healthy on-the-go snack. We were also featured at the TEDSummit in Banff Canada, helping fuel the minds of intellectuals, speakers, and innovators alike!
July may have looked a bit slow from the outside, but behind the scenes we were bustling bees – putting together the KickStarter campaign that ran from mid August to mid September! We are still in awe that we were able to raise $22,848, more than doubling our initial goal. We will be distributing those rewards soon, you better believe it! And we can’t stop saying thank you to all of our supporters – like our customers or our partners at Blick Clinic and Hattie Larlham (videos).
And September was definitely the capstone! With the resources and momentum from the KickStarter campaign, Peaceful Fruits was able to make our presence known in a big way – in two places at once! Both at Expo East (check out recent blog post by Keila if you missed it) and at the Health Expo for the Akron Marathon! It feels like people are really starting to respond to what we are all about – snacks that are good for you and good for the world, from Akron to the Amazon!
Oh, and in case you missed it, the cherry on top was Oct 3rd when founder Evan was featured on a new PBS TV show as an up & coming “Mover and Shaker” in Akron!
All in all, the single best thing is that momentum is building. Better snacks. Better business. Better community. So we just want to say – thank you for all the support, and we are here to stay!
And, finally, now that summer is ending and the next season is coming, you can expect we’ve got even more in the works. So stay tuned!
